The day with the Snider's

We spent some time with the Snider's in Memphis although it wasn't as long as we wanted too. Laci and Cari took Clay swimming. Then we went ans saw Robert at the Highway Dept. Shed were Robert showed Clay all the equipment and big dumptrucks. Robert then took Clay to the fire department and showed him all the firetrucks and other equipment. Clay had a great time!!!

Favorite things at the farm

I'm sure their favorite things about Quail will change as they grow but for right now...

Papa is a pretty good babysitter!!!!

Ride'em Cowboy!

Clay really enjoyed the rodeo! He loved watching Casey and Cooper and all the stuff they did. He stood at the fence and hardly moved a muscle the whole time. We were in Clarendon over the 4th of July so w went to the Saint's Roost festivities. Clay has decided when he gets big like Casey he is going to ride steers. This picture is Clay on Poncho, Cooper's horse. We also went to the parade. Clay wouldn't go pick up candy but Cooper did. Cooper would bring it back to the curb and put it in his hat and then Clay would pick out what he wanted from Cooper's hat. Pam thought it was cute. It was hot but not too humid. We had a pretty good time.

Shipping the boys off

Frustrated one day I told Clay that I was going to ship him and Spencer to GiGi's house. Apparently he was just as frustrated because he went and found a box. It was pretty darn cute!

Back in Missouri

Well, we are back in Missouri and back in our house. It's been a long time. We left on June 26th stayed in Quail and Clarendon and then back to Ava where we stayed with Lee and Marsha. Spencer had his 2 month check up. He weighed 10 pounds and 10 ounces on July 15th. We then to to GiGi's where all we did was eat, sleep and swim. I still really miss Mexican food. Spencer is a great traveler and so is Clay. Clay is ready to go back to GiGi's house. He loves to swim and GiGi taught him how to swim by himself (with floaties).
Anyway, check back often. Things are slowing down a little and so I will be able to post more. I hope to get some pictures and stories from our travels this summer!!

In Texas

Well, it's good to be in Texas. We arrived on June 26th and have done nothing but eat and sleep since we got here. We ventured to Memphis and Clay and I got a haircut. I had to hold Clay in my lap. He cried so hard he threw up. Pat was mad at me for forcing him because she thought he was going to hate her. He got over it pretty quickly with the help of a snow cone. Pat cut 4 inches or so off of my hair. It looks and feels a lot better.
Spencer attended his first rodeo - 7 weeks old. It was the Junior rodeo at Clarendon. Casey McCleskey rode for the Tule Ranch. They didn't win but they made a good showin'. They did sorting, trailer loading, branding, and steer mugging. Clay was in awe the entire time but didn't want to ride Poncho, Cooper's horse.

Happy July 4th! We'll write more later but now we have to get ready for the parade.

Clay is still a great big brother!

Clay is still really good with Spencer. He wants to hold him all the time. Spencer is a good baby. He has his moments but we all do.
They are coming Monday morning to fix the ceiling in the garage. I will be working to remove the trim in the master bedroom, little bathroom, hall, living room, dining room and kitchen. As soon as I get that done, we will move all the furniture in those rooms to the middle and cover it with plastic and they will come fix the walls and ceilings in the house. I hope to get it done by Tuesday morning.
I mowed and weed eated Saturday and sunburned my arms and neck. I have a few small blisters that really hurt. Clay wanted to 'tuk' when I got done and I told him no because I was hot and he told me to quit being a whiny butt.
I also took Kaytee, Emily, Clay, Julie and some of her friends fishing at Sutton's pond. Emily caught one and Clay got FIVE. Nobody else caught anything. Clay would rather feed the fish than actually fishing for them.
I go to the doctor Tuesday afternoon. I expect a good report, I've been feeling better and getting around better. Adjusting to two kids is better now too. I can get up, nurse Spencer, get him and me and Clay dressed and out the door in a little over on an hour. It used to take that long to nurse Spencer and get him dressed. We made it to church today. Going to church is pure torture for Clay and he doesn't really like it. It's only because he has to be quiet. He almost explodes. My saving grace is that Mrs. Janet, Doug, Gina and Sarah are usually there. Sarah and Clay have to sit together and share a hymnal. Spencer loves to go to church. He gets puled out of his car seat the second we hit the door and doesn't get put down until we leave. Mrs. Janet and Gina fight over him during worship service and then in Sunday School, the class plays pass the baby.
I'm making a list of what all I think we will need to go to Texas. I made a list and then had to go back and trim it down. I've trimmed it down twice and I still don't think I'll be able to ft it all in the pickup. I don't know when we are going and I don't know how long we will be gone. It depends on how long they take to fix the walls and ceilings and I still have to line up somebody to come paint everything while we are gone. All the furniture will be covered and me and the boys don't need to breathe all the fumes. David will stay at his mom and dad's. Close enough to keep an eye on things but not staying in the house either. I don't know what I will do with me fish while we are gone. My plants will go to Gracie's while we are gone she doesn't mind. She has an extremely green thumb. They haven't started fixing their house yet. They are really good neighbors and we are glad they are back from Arizona.
We'll post more later. I have some really good pictures that I will get uploaded eventually.

Spencer Smiling!!

Spencer has started grinning when he wants to - it's not just gas anymore. He likes for me to talk to him but still flinches when he hears Clay coming. Not that Clay has ever hurt him - he's just rough and loud, very loud.
Spencer is feeling better but not completely over his cold. Clay is feeling better and I think is over his. I hope we can got to church in the morning so I can show Spencer off but will have to see how the night goes!

Spencer - 4 weeks old

Isn't he CUTE!?!?!?!?!?!

One quick story about Clay -

I lost him the other day and knew he was hiding from me but for the life of me couldn't find him and for once he wasn't giggling or talking. When I found him I had to grab my camera. Who knew the bassinet could double for bunk beds.

Clay's TWO babies

Clay is still really good with Spencer but the new has definitely wore off. He's not so enthusiastic about going and getting diapers or a pacifier but he does talk to him A LOT. Even when the poor baby is trying to go to sleep. I guess with time Spencer will just learn to ignore Clay and go to sleep anyway.

I don't know what Spencer's tummy troubles are being caused by but he is having trouble. He burps so hard and long when you finally get him to burp that it hurts. I've tried everything I know to help and nothing is working. None of the foods I have been eating seem to be bothering him that I can tell. I don't eat something for 2 days and then have it the next day and see how he acts and nothing is making it better. I also wonder if he's not going through a growth spurt. They say they go through one at 1 month of age (which, yesterday he was 4 weeks old) because he wants to eat about every 3 hours. The other kicker in all this is that he's sick. He has more snot and sinus drainage than one baby should have. The only person I know who has more is Clay and it's running out of his nose in bucket fulls right now. I really wanted to take Spencer to church today and show him off but I can't justify taking TWO sick kids out of the house so we are staying home.

Anyway, the house is coming along. The outside is almost done. They will come fix the siding sometime soon. We have to wait til it quits storming long enough to do it. We are getting bids for the inside work. We are pretty much going to have to move out to get it all fixed at once so when that work starts, me and the boys are going to Texas. We are going to the Panhandle for Spencer to meet Mam-maw and Papa and Granny Virgie and probably lots of other people. It depends on how long we are going to have to be gone but we may go to Roswell to see Gran and then Mom's. I really want to go to Mom's, she's got her pool open and I would love to go swimming. Not that I'm ready to put on a swimsuit yet but I have been wearing regular clothes since Spencer was 3 weeks old. That was exciting for me. I wanted Clay to take swimming lessons this year but we will probably be in Texas when they have them.

Anyway, we'll post more later.

Big Differences

You know, people warned me that Spencer would be totally different from Clay. So I've decided to make a list.
Spencer -
SLEEPS 6 hours at night!!! WOOHOO!!! Clay still doesn't.
Prefers to nurse over a bottle. Clay liked the bottle, I guess it was easier.
Has more diaper rash. I've already been through a case of Butt Paste.
Hates baths. I can't keep Clay out of the water.
Hates to be naked. Clay cries when I make him get dressed.

However, ther are some similarities -
They both fight going to sleep.
They both like to sleep on their tummies.
They both have an amazing unconditional love for their Mommy.

And whoever said you can't spoil a newborn can feel free to come sleep with Spencer on their chest in the recliner chair everynight. That's the best way he sleeps.

Clay is still really good with him. I have been impressed. Now if we could just get Clay potty trained!!!!!!

Spencer and Sarah

Spencer doesn't have a chance when it comes to being spoiled!! Sarah is so good with him. Clay doesn't really care for her giving Spencer much attention but he will tolerate it for a while. Sarah has a baby at home that she now calls Spencer and takes very good and constant care of.

Our luck with storms

We had another storm Sunday night - 60 mph straight line winds. I was really glad they got the roof finished Saturday. We only lost one limb out of the cottonwood tree. David had left my pick up in the driveway so that he could clean up around the house some more - just to make sure I don't get any roofing nails in my tires. The limb fell out of the tree and went directly over the hood of my truck and landed on the other side. Maybe this means our luck is getting better when it comes to storm damage! I certainly hope so. I would have been one upset woman if my truck had been messed up!!

The new roof

We got the new roof on over the holiday weekend. We went with a dark grey instead of the light brown that was on it. We still have a long way to go before everything is fixed and I really wonder if we will ever get it done.

When the masonary work is done on the foundation we are going to paint over the red on the blocks. The new color shingles really changed the look o the whole house!

Some of my favorite pictures.

Some of my favorite pictures. Clay is a great help. He really is a good big brother. He is adjusting fairly well and has moments but he's doing great.

Spencer is doing good too. Eating, sleeping, peeing and pooping are his current accomplishments. He can lift his head up and turn it from side to side when he wants. He is very active. GiGi is having a hard time keeping up with the laundry. When Spencer decides to fill a diaper he over flows them. He weighed 8 lbs. 2 oz. when he was born and 7 lbs. 3 oz. when we left the hospital. He weighed 7 lbs. 6 oz. today at the doctor, so he's gaining good.

Mom has been a life saver. She is going home on Wednesday and I am very, very scared. We've done pretty good though and I'm getting around better everyday. She gets up with Spencer in the night, changes him and brings him to me to nurse and when he's done, she takes him and puts him back to bed. She also gets up ith Clay when he needs it. She's been doing the laundry, cooking and cleaning. I think Papa Johnny may be ready for her to come home though. They have two new calves since she's been gone.

We are going to keep taking pictures so check back often!!!!

Tornado (EF0) at the Aborn's

Our storm damage was minor but it was enough for me to freak out!! The roof will have to be replaced along with the siding and one window on the end of the house. The siren's woke me up at 6:06 am and by 6:28 am David was outside calling his brother-in-law, the Roofer Man, Kenny. By 7 am Kenny and his crew had our house tarped and temporarily fixed and went to work on our neighbors. We have a lot of water damage on the ceilings inside the house and don't know if the insurance company will replace the ceilings or not. The insulation all got wet in the attic and the entire house is starting to smell. We only lost one window and it is at the head of Clay's bed. We had just got him out of his room and in a closet when it busted. Glass is everywhere and I think the insurance company may replace the carpet. When I called about our claim, they said we would be at the top of the list for the adjusters to come see because I'm am due to have Spencer in 7 days!!!! Our agent wants us to be able to bring him home to a complete house and not one missing a roof! (Some of the pictures are grainy because it ws so dark when I took them. The sun was coming up but the clouds weren't helping. I had to lighten them up after I downloaded them but you can still see the damage.)

My favorite tree in the whole yard, twisted and snapped. It's the main trunk too so the whole tree will probably have to come out. It's in the backyard by the deck. The dogs are all ok but an extra dog house we have that was on the deck was found about 1/8 mile east of the house in a pasture with some heifers.
This is what we saw when we looked ot the window first thing after the storm. This is across the street. Our neighbor's, Bill and Terri Philpott park their vehicles under trees to minimize hail damage. Didn't work out so well for them this time. The suburban here was driveable once they got the tree out but there is a chance that the insurance compan will total it because of the damage to the cab. Their son, Mark's truck had a limb go through the roof so it is totaled. It ran long enough to move it and that was it.

More Storm Damage

This really got to me. This is a bumper pull travel trailer of the Philpott's, not where it was the night before. They think it only rolled once but that's enough for me. They finally got it flipped back on it's wheels Friday afternoon.

This was a huge tree at our other neighbor's house. You can kinda see the house in the background. He was standing at the window trying to figure out what was going on when it came down and fell towrds him. It missed the house by about 3 feet. He was a little shook up after that. A lot of the big trees in our neighbor hood will now be burned for firewood next winter!
This is the scene downtown (off of the square) where the most damage was done. That's a u-shaped shopping center that no loger has any roof anywhere or any signs left. It contained the National TV Sales and Rental, O'Reilly's Auto Parts and several small shops. O'reilly's is estimating 45 days before they open again.

37 weeks...it won't be long!!

37 weeks!! Spencer can come anytime!!! I am definitely ready. Going to the doctor is an all day event now-a-days. I go to the doctor's office, then to Labor and Delivery Triage for tests and then back to the doctor's office. It's an hour drive up there and hour drive back, so it usually wears me out. Everybody I see tells me he can't drop any lower without falling out. Several women friends at the bank are taking bets on whether I make it through the week with no baby or not. One of them calls me just about everyday to see if they won or not.

Anyway, Clay has decided he doesn't want to be a big brother and that Spencer should just stay in Mommy's tummy. He doesn't want GiGi to come see him but only because he doesn't want her to sleep in his bed. I on the other hand am very ready for GiGi to be here. Clay demands a lot of energy!!!!!

Monday, April 14, 2008

Well, I made it to 35 weeks. Spencer can come any day now. I am definetely ready. You can compare this picture with the one posted a couple of weeks ago and see how GIGANTIC I am!! Hopefully, I will post more Wednesday after my doctor's appointment unless I'm having him!

I've decided that maybe I spend too much time on the computer and phone. I have been having trouble with my internet and having to talk to technical support a lot. I bought Clay this computer to help him learn his letters. The first thing he did was run get his "cell phone" and call the guy because his internet wasn't working and he couldn't check his e-mail.

He loves his computer now though. He knows most of letters but his favorite is "H" for horse.

Clay did soooooo great at the dentist!!!!!!!!

Clay is soooooooo awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Once he got used to the room and looked at all the tools, for example, the flashlight that hangs from the ceilings so Dr. Rosen never loses it, the TV that is also attached to the ceiling, the chair that lays back, the funny looking metal toothpick, and the very small mirror, he opened his mouth and let Dr. Rosen count his teeth. He has 20 of them by the way. Dr. Rosen said that his teeth looked really great and do not have any plaque build up to make a cleaning necessary!! He told Clay to keep brushing like a big boy. Clay got several surprises including a new toothbrush that looks like a yellow Crayola marker and has a suction cup on the end so he can stick it to the mirror and not lose it, his very own MINT flavored floss that he does not have to share with Mom, lots of stickers and a coupon for free ice cream from Wendy's. He had to use the floss to demonstrate to Dr. Rosen how to floss. It was really cute!! The assistant is Cassidy and she was really great with Clay. He told them thank you and said he would come back later!!

I survived the doctor...

I survived the doctor and the day in Springfield. The doctor's appointment went good except I have lost weight. He wants me to go as long as possible with this baby so that we can be sure he will be big enough. Spencer would not let them get a heart rate on him. He woudl kick hard enough to knock the doppler off my stomach. He doesn't like the pressure I guess. Maybe too much of Clay mashing on him?!?!?! I also went to meet with the anesthesiologist. My pain management is going to be easy - give me drugs and lots of them.
Anyway, I also went and registered at Toys'R'Us/Babies'R'Us and Wal-mart just to get an idea of what we are going to need. We won't need much but I sure found lots I want. I can't wait until he gets here. I had forgotten how small he will be until I got a diaper sample in the mail yesterday.

Clay goes to the dentist tomorrow for the first time ever! I think he's excited but he doesn't understand really. We'll let you know how it goes!!!!

April Fool's Day!

Well, I decided this morning I would be really mean and call or text everybody and tell them I was in LABOR!!! After thinking about it though, I'm pretty sure someone would have killed me. 45 days to go before my due date, but I'm kinda hoping Spencer decides he has run out of room before that. We still haven't decided on a middle name but hopefully we can agree shortly!
Clay has decided that if Spencer comes out all yucky that we will have to put him back. He asks about every other day if Spencer is big enough to come out or not.
Tomorrow is April 2nd and I have a doctor's appt. On the 3rd, Clay has his first ever dentist appointment. It's going to be a busy week!
